Talking Tushies is a international project to raise awareness of the amount of pain there is to share on the topic of sexual violence. My goal is to start conversations and support each survivor in their healing. This is a two-part project aimed to discuss sexual assault in public settings.
Embroidered pocket shaped patches that state sexual assault statistics.
Using sexual assault statistics to confront the male gaze via an international performance public art display. The pocket-shaped patches, which are designed to be sewn onto the back pocket of pants or other clothing items initiate conversations in public environments. The patches state over thirty sexual assault statistics; they are bright, using various colors and recycled fabrics. The statistics vary, covering sexual assault in all ages, gender, and situations. A female body has been objectified throughout history as a sexual prop and has impacted men’s actions within our contemporary culture; these actions need to be eliminated from society immediately. Whenever a patch is spotted in public, Talking Tushies acts as protection from sexual harassment.

A place for survivors to share their experiences with rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment.
Sexual assault survivors share their experiences to be told through a public installation. The stories are directly embroidered into various undergarments and displayed for public viewers. The underclothing represents each survivor as their stories of assault, rape, and harassment are installed for a public viewing. The installation is designed to mimic a closet display, which becomes a private setting for each viewer to read the experiences, and other survivors can choose to share their own. Every story is added to the growing installation. These anecdotes can be provided completely anonymously below. I am extremely proud of every survivor that chooses to add their story to this project.
