To Live for a Day

December 1st, 2022

One day, the world is clear and familiar

sleep, and awake to the world covered with fishflies.

A species never seen before, appear from seemingly nowhere

and only have 1-2 days to live.

They are everywhere.

Attracted to light, creating a canopy of flutter.

Car dealerships, gas stations, street lights

Then they die

Building a blanket of death all over the city

They died, but remain

We are forced to shut down and repair.

and we do

every year.

The next generation will return and we will do it all again

I guess its an honorable thing to shut down everything to let a species live their life

their time is limited.

Who are we to try to control that?
